This six-day flying adventure is the perfect itinerary for the already Instrument Rated pilot to gain both proficiency and a strong feeling of confidence while learning IFR mountain techniques. The voyage begins for you and a flying partner at our home base in Medford before flying the beautiful Pacific Northwest, crossing both the Cascade and Rocky Mountain ranges in one day.
On this exhilarating trip, you will fly into Montana, Wyoming and Colorado where stops at the challenging airports of Aspen and Telluride are planned. Other legs of this adventure include the Grand Canyon and Sedona, along with learning important IFR skills in the busy Class Bravo airspace of both the Los Angeles and San Francisco regions. Mini-Adventure Courses
The new Mini-Adventure course is for the pilot who wants to complete his or her rating in a condensed program and would rather learn in a one-on-one cockpit as opposed to partnering up with another pilot. This course is the add-on to the Instrument Prep Course and is also a Six Day program.
Choose between either a California Coastal route or a Northwest Mountain route. The first day on either is our orientation and planning day. If you chose the California route you will travel down the Oregon and California coasts to the LA Basin in our 2013 Cessna 172. If you opt for the Northwest Mountain route you will fly our Turbo Skylane also G1000 equipped. On either route you will put in four to five hours flight time each day. On day six, Field will conduct your IFR check ride if all requirements have been met.
If mountain experience flying experience is what you are after then the Northwest Mountain route should be your choice. Four days traveling through Oregon,
Washington, Idaho and Montana will certainly fit the bill.
The California Coastal Course is flown in the 2013 Skyhawk while the Northwest Mountain Course utilizes the Turbo Skylane with its oxygen and TKS ice protection. All aircraft, instructional fees, and charts are included as well as fine accommodations for overnight stays.
