See the American West on Our Adventure Flights

On our Adventure Flights, you'll be introduced to the Cessna Turbo Skylane with its Garmin G1000 panel and Garmin GFC 700 autopilot. All flights begin in Medford, Oregon with an orientation and planning session where we will discuss the exciting IFR training week ahead. Pilots completing our Instrument Prep Course can choose one of two Mini-Adventure Flights; a California Coastal route using our 2013 Skyhawk 172SP, or a Northwest Mountain route in our Turbo Skylane.

From experience, Field Morey knows Alaska is an incredible area to spend a week of flight training. On this once-in-a-lifetime trip, the majestic scenery and grandeur of the great American wilderness is as important as the seven days of IFR flight training you'll receive, much of it in the kind of real-world IMC that is found in Alaska.

After departure from Medford, you and your flying partner will cross over into Canada and be introduced to the formalities of clearing Canadian customs using CANPASS. You'll see gorgeous fjords as you travel north along the British Columbia coastline, and after clearing U.S. Customs at Ketchikan, the trip will take you to planned stops at Yakutat, Cordova, Sitka, Juneau, Anchorage and other points of interest. If weather allows, you'll even get a rare glimpse of Mt. McKinley (Denali). Read more

The Wilderness Adventure is a five-day flight designed to offer pilots both an instrument refresher as well as an opportunity to learn the skills for operating in the Idaho backcountry.

The course begins in Medford before you and your flying partner travel north into Washington, Idaho and Montana where you'll learn the "ins and outs" of mountain strips and canyon techniques. This flight also visits beautiful yet challenging US Forest Service backcountry strips where you can hike, fish or just relax and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Idaho Wilderness. Read more

This six-day flying adventure is the perfect itinerary for the already Instrument Rated pilot to gain both proficiency and a strong feeling of confidence while learning IFR mountain techniques. The voyage begins for you and a flying partner at our home base in Medford before flying the beautiful Pacific Northwest, crossing both the Cascade and Rocky Mountain ranges in one day.

On this exhilarating trip, you will fly into Montana, Wyoming and Colorado where stops at the challenging airports of Aspen and Telluride are planned. Mini-Adventure Courses

The new Mini-Adventure course is for the pilot who wants to complete his or her rating in a condensed program and would rather learn in a one-on-one cockpit as opposed to partnering up with another pilot. This course is the add-on to the Instrument Prep Course and is also a Six Day program.

Choose between either a California Coastal route or a Northwest Mountain route. The first day on either is our orientation and planning day. If you chose the California route you will travel down the Oregon and California coasts to the LA Basin in our 2013 Cessna 172. If you opt for the Northwest Mountain route you will fly our Turbo Skylane also G1000 equipped. On either route you will put in four to five hours flight time each day. On day six, Field will conduct your IFR check ride if all requirements have been met.

If mountain experience flying experience is what you are after then the Northwest Mountain route should be your choice. Four days traveling through Oregon,
Washington, Idaho and Montana will certainly fit the bill.

The California Coastal Course is flown in the 2013 Skyhawk while the Northwest Mountain Course utilizes the Turbo Skylane with its oxygen and TKS ice protection. All aircraft, instructional fees, and charts are included as well as fine accommodations for overnight stays.
